It was built in 1992 to coincide with the Olympic Games. It quickly earned a reputation as a flagship project for Barcelona’s urban renewal, galvanized by its successful bid as host city. The original architects, Íñigo Ortiz and Enrique de León, were determined to give the city something new and unique for this historic occasion: a new landmark for the Barcelona skyline.
